Shrek show to close on Broadway Oct 23, 2009
Shrek, based on the children's book by William Steig, is one of the most successful animated films of all time and tells the story of an ogre with a heart of gold. A fourth Shrek film is scheduled to be released in 2010, and a touring production of the musical is to begin next July in Chicago. (BBC News -- Entertainment)

Shrek is the model: A slender and amusingly contrarian tale about a stinky ogre, drawn with William Steig s patented wobbly lines, the Dreamworks film became a slick CGI franchise featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz. The Shrek movies are well done: witty and fast and occasionally even subversive in a way that children and Steig might salute. (Boston Globe)
