News and Articles on William Inge
Dick Berg, 87; ushered in concept of made-for-TV movies Sep 4, 2009 With the demise of live television in New York, Mr. Berg tried to re-create the excitement of the early days of the medium by producing Alcoa Premiere and Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, dramatic anthology shows for which he was able to hire such writers as William Inge to write original teleplays. This mixture of drama, variety, and event specials attracted such actors as Robert Redford, Simone Signoret, Anne Bancroft, Rod Steiger, Jason Robards Jr., and Lee. (Boston Globe)
Elia Kazan retrospective at the Harvard Film Archive Jul 26, 2009 The film owes a lot to playwright-screenwriter William Inge (and rather less to a wooden Warren Beatty in his debut), but it s the star and director who turn this into a female version of Rebel Without a Cause, and, as such, a rather more dangerous proposition. Still other movies in the series have never been given their due. (Boston Globe)
Collin College changes it up for new season Jun 24, 2009 The classic American drama is about the power of love and is written by William Inge. Bus Stop follows the story of cowboy Bo and his friend Virgil. (McKinney Courier-Gazette, TX)
