Middleton told the board members he was trying to come to grips with their action at the last board meeting rejecting three Native American novels Fools Crow by author James Welch, The Absolute True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie and Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich. The books were recommended for use at Laurel High School by him, the director of curriculum, the high school principal, the chair of the high school English department and a high school curriculum review committee made...
