AUSTRALIAN author Christos Tsiolkas joined the ranks of such international literary giants as Peter Carey, Janet Frame and Vikram Seth yesterday when he won the 2009 Commonwealth Writers' Prize for his gritty portrayal of Melbourne suburbia, The Slap.
