Bob had a great sense of humor (essential for all front line employees) and we shared an appreciation for the somewhat sardonic humor found in books like Dennis Leary s latest, but he also enjoyed a wide variety of fiction and films from the historical, northwest settings of Ivan Doig to the contemporary HBO series Cracker. Carroll officials also bestowed honorary doctorates to a celebrated Montana-born author Ivan Doig; Capt. Diane Carlson Evans, the founder and president of the Vietnam Women s Memorial Foundation; and the Very Rev. David M. O Connell, who now serves as the president of The Catholic University of America.
