Froth and substance Nov 17, 2009
Angliss head chef David Williamson and Badenoch have designed the menu, which will accompany beers from four of the country's top amateur brewers, including Irishman Geoff Daly, from Melbourne. For a population raised to view beer as little more than cold, wet and fizzy, it remains to be seen whether it can ever come close to the ubiquity of wine at the nation's dining tables. Australia kicks on globally Sep 25, 2009
It's Western Australia versus Victoria and, in a rare acting role, the great playwright David Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the film in collaboration with Peter Weir, plays a lanky Victorian ruckman whom the West Australians can't budge. It was a great scene, combining Australia's brave digger spirit with our carefree love of sport and, in particular, our home-grown game Australian rules. (Sydney Morning Herald -- Business)

In the lecture, legendary playwright David Williamson would relive his Melbourne boyhood and youth, his attachment to Collingwood and his thrill as an 11-year-old to watch Rose's ''virtuoso' second quarter in the 1953 grand final, founding a Magpies premiership. He would remember other Saturday afternoons, standing in the outer at Victoria Park on a fruit box brought by his father, thrilling to victories, crying at defeats. (The Age, Australia)

Balibo verdict: truth, drama and tragedy Aug 16, 2009
Connolly and his co-writer David Williamson claim they relied on the book Cover-up by journalist Jill Joliffe, which is a fine book, but the film barely resembles it. Nor does it reflect the revelations about DFA officials in the book Death in Balibo, by Australian National University academic Des Ball and Sydney Morning Herald journalist Hamish McDonald, which reveals how senior officials in the Jakarta embassy, Malcolm Dan and Allan Taylor, received detailed briefings on Indonesia's plan to... Study highlights teen obesity risks Mar 5, 2009
Since most people gain weight as they age, the men who were overweight in their teens may well have gone on to become obese as adults, so their deaths may actually reflect risks of obesity, not overweight, said Dr. David Williamson, a visiting professor at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health who has studied the effects of obesity on health. Smoking is widely acknowledged to be the single most important cause of preventable deaths and disease, he noted. (International Herald Tribune -- Health)
