Silent Snow, Secret Snow was written by American novelist and poet Conrad Aiken 75 years ago and is considered Aiken's most well-known short. It was the right play at the right time for the right author; Aiken himself dealt with personal struggle - at age 11 he found his parents dead in a murder-suicide - that may have led him to write about dark subjects.
